I'm Sandy, a Boomer girl just turned 60. I go by the adage that you are only as young as you feel. Age is no longer about a number but how you live the life you are given. Along with my hubby of over 32 years I am on a quest for a happy, healthy life full of love, living and laughter.

My first step was losing a bunch of weight that was wearing me down health-wise. I can now say my excess weight is permanently gone, almost 50 pounds. I may not be a "skinny minny" but I'm healthy and fit (almost!). I am raring to move onto the next challenge to where life takes me.

Daughter's Wedding
October 6, 2012
I'm a true empty-nester except for a very patient husband and he tells me he isn't going anywhere. The kids, a daughter, 30 and a son, 28 are my greatest accomplishment and they are now getting on with their own lives. I now have a grand-daughter born February 2013, a real sweetheart. I still work, but retirement is on the horizon, probably in less than 4 years.

I love keeping busy. That includes healthy pursuits like Nordic walking and cooking healthy meals (mostly!). And my newest find, Pinterest, has awakened my inner creative side. I love decorating, DIY, cross-stitch, digital scrapbooking and beautiful things. I love to write so this blog will allow me to express that love with a bunch of eclectic posts. There will be bits and pieces of This and That. Some Flotsam and some Jetsam. Stuff. My everyday life.

Sandy & Tim: Germany, November 1, 2011
To the right is a picture of hubby and me on our trip to Europe in 2011. We were in a monastery along the Danube River on All Saints Day (November 1st) having a taste of beer with a pretzel made by the monks. A good beer it was too.

All I have learned over the years have led me to this point. I don't have a master plan. I find blogging is a bit like a GPS to help me get to where I'm going. Although the final destination has not been decided nor what I will do along the way. Will I take detours and side tracks? Will I go where the wind blows me? Then again, it might be best to throw away all the devices and just experience an unplanned, uncharted journey.

My mantra is posted at the top of this blog:

"We leave behind not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others."

I guess I want to leave behind a bit of me and this blog will do that.
